#2017MakeNine + Top 5 Reflections/Goals

Happy New Year Everyone!  I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the winter break with the kiddos and the long weekend with my husband. The weather has been beautiful so we spent quite a few days beachside-perfect way to start out the year! Here’s my last TOP 5: My Reflections + Goals plus my #2017MakeNine! Reflections: It’s been a busy year! I made 31 pieces for me plus countless more for the kids! Moving is not conductive to getting anything done! I really missed using natural dyes and being able to get messy! My closet is almost full!  I really need very few […]

Top 5: Non Sewing Highlights-My Family Year in Review

2016 was an eventful year for my little family! Here’s my second TOP 5 Post for 2016: my non-sewing related Highlights!  I tried to pick 5 but so much happened this year that I decided instead to put together a little family year in review.  This year so much less sewing then usual because of all the big changes we had.  Selling our condo in Naples, Making the move to Plantation, the start of school for BOTH my kiddos and my first months back to work after 8 years as a Stay at Home Momma! I started January with a bang in a gorgeous DKNY bronze dress that my […]

Work Wardrobe: Lantern Sleeve Blouse and Denim Culottes

I think this look is one of my favorites!  I love the simplicity of this white lantern sleeve blouse with the dark denim culottes. Both pieces are such versatile basics.  Perfect for work and for the weekend. I wish I had started sewing pieces like these earlier! The denim culottes are my second version of my pattern hack/mashup of B5504 by Connie Crawford and By Hand London’s Holly Pant.  I did everything construction wise identical to my Rust Culottes so for more sewing details check out that post!  These were made in a stretch Classico Indigo Denim(OOS) I found at Marcy Tilton. I cut the fabric […]

Creme de la Creme Granville Blouse

I think this is my favorite Granville blouse yet!  The cotton double gauze on this Crème de la crème woven is just luscious.  It’s so soft and a nice light weight.  Great for summer and layered in the fall.  I was originally planning on doing some sashiko stitching on the back yoke but decided the simplicity of this shirt is much more versatile for me right now.  And I love how the cream looks against my skin.  I’m using more cream in my palette for fall since I do find it more flattering than white. I know it’s election day but […]

Handmade Halloween 2016

Yesterday was Halloween!  My favorite holiday of all.  I think I just like an excuse to dress up! Unfortunately Ami got sick last minute so no trick or treating for her or me! :(  Luckily we had a community party yesterday and a get together with the cousins this past weekend so not a total loss. Vic and Nigel hit the motherload so we know where to go next year! This year Ami decided she wanted her first store bought costume-she wanted to go full out as a Disney princess.  She picked out Mulan at the Disney Store.  Sparkly and […]

Fall 2016 Sewing Plans

The weather here is slowly changing from our excessive summer heat to lots of rainy-and slightly cooler-days. Summer is slowly drawing to a close.  Time for my Fall 2016 Sewing Plans! I think what I miss most about living up north is real fall clothes. It gets cooler here in Florida but not so much that I need to layer or wear much heavier garments.  My nod to fall tends to be in my color choices. My wardrobe is probably about 80% year round wear so I don’t really require many new makes this season.  I still have a few patterns waiting in my queue that I […]
