Dior Grey Badgley Mischka V1460

I’ve been sewing up a storm over here!  A little bit of sewing escapism was needed this past week(s).  I finished off a pair of Morgan jeans, a super cute set of Carolyn pj’s and two handbags/backpacks!  This dress I’m showing off today was finished before the new year but getting some decent pictures required more effort.  Here’s my Badgley Mischa for Vogue Patterns dress V1460 in a Dior grey ponte knit! I wanted to make an elegant but easy to wear dress to expand my work wardrobe.  I really loved the white designer version I saw posted by McCall on pinterest […]

Hemp/Wool Tweed Vogue Wrap Skirt V9209 + Breton Stripe Top

Here are my first makes for the New Year- a nautical inspired tweed wrap skirt V9209 with a Breton stripe knit top! I feel so elegant and chic! Nautical looks are on trend this season which makes this perfect for my work wardrobe.  I’ve been dying to try out this Vogue pattern midi wrap skirt with its button detail for a few months now.  I love the highwaist, button closure plus faux button and the interesting angle of the wrap. So versatile- I can dress it up with heels or wear it with my converse to work. Organic Cottons Plus contacted me in December to […]

Happy New Year Everyone!  I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the winter break with the kiddos and the long weekend with my husband. Chartreuse Donna Karan Vogue V1489

I’m feeling really on trend in my newest make, a beautiful chartreuse Donna Karan for Vogue Patterns, V1489. This dress was supposed to be my wearable muslin but it’s fabulous as is.  I wasn’t quite sure about the color until I put it on-but once I did –wow! This dress is a real stunner! I bought a bunch of Donna Karan patterns before they went out of print due to licensing and this one is a winner. It reminds me of an Issey Miyake pattern I got back in the 90’s.  I love the front draping and the gathered back waist.  Gorgeous silhouette.  Bonus-I’ve again made a really […]

Fall 2016 Sewing Plans

The weather here is slowly changing from our excessive summer heat to lots of rainy-and slightly cooler-days. Summer is slowly drawing to a close.  Time for my Fall 2016 Sewing Plans! I think what I miss most about living up north is real fall clothes. It gets cooler here in Florida but not so much that I need to layer or wear much heavier garments.  My nod to fall tends to be in my color choices. My wardrobe is probably about 80% year round wear so I don’t really require many new makes this season.  I still have a few patterns waiting in my queue that I […]

Pacific Grove Vogue V8871

Can you tell how much I love this fabric!  This is dress #2 in Pacific Grove, a gorgeous landscape knit from Marcy Tilton.   After making my V Neck dress I had just enough fabric leftover to whip up this little dress.  It’s V8871, Very Easy Vogue, that I picked up during the last pattern sale to add to my ever-growing stash. I love the princess seams and curved side pieces-they’re really beautiful.  The pattern is a very quick sew-though I added a few modifications.  My fabric was limited after I made the first dress so I cut the back pattern in half […]
