Ocean Odgen Cami

One of my favorite color combinations is Blue and White. I wear it constantly and collect pottery, ceramics and dishware in this colorway.  This simple cami works seamlessly into my wardrobe. The combo of my white Holly Pants with this new navy Odgen Cami is crisp and chic while still being comfortable and airy. This first version is my very wearable muslin to tweak the fit.  It’s a Cloud 9 Organics Cirrus Solid quilting weight cotton in Ocean that I purchased from Hawthorne Threads. It’s lightweight, irons beautifully and is perfectly opaque. This tank does double duty as I’ll wear it with yellow shorts (just finished!) and […]

Organic White Denim Morgan Jeans

Here’s my latest make for my work wardrobe, a pair of organic white denim Morgan jeans. My most professional looking pair of jeans yet!  I just love the fit and finish! Plus it’s my second completed project for my #2017MakeNine!  I’m working on projects #3 and #4: the Vogue shorts and Odgen Cami below.  Planning out my makes for this Instagram challenge is such great motivation! P.S.-I didn’t make the shirt⇑ in these pics-it’s RTW from my work. I wanted a simple pair of jeans that would be work appropriate.  I was inspired by a menswear jean we carry at Club Monaco.  Super simple straight leg with […]

Bare Necessities Carolyn Pajama’s

When I found this print I new I had to have it!  This Bare Necessities organic poplin is in my favorite colors: navy, coral, peach and orange and reminds me of a modern William Morris floral. Just like the image that inspired the embroidery on my denim jeans! While this bold print is a bit too much for everyday wear it’s perfect for a new set of Carolyn Pajama’s! Plus it’s my first finished make in my #2017MakeNine! I’m to the point now where my work wardrobe is pretty well fleshed out for the rest of this season so it’s back to filling in […]

Dior Grey Badgley Mischka V1460

I’ve been sewing up a storm over here!  A little bit of sewing escapism was needed this past week(s).  I finished off a pair of Morgan jeans, a super cute set of Carolyn pj’s and two handbags/backpacks!  This dress I’m showing off today was finished before the new year but getting some decent pictures required more effort.  Here’s my Badgley Mischa for Vogue Patterns dress V1460 in a Dior grey ponte knit! I wanted to make an elegant but easy to wear dress to expand my work wardrobe.  I really loved the white designer version I saw posted by McCall on pinterest […]

Hemp/Wool Tweed Vogue Wrap Skirt V9209 + Breton Stripe Top

Here are my first makes for the New Year- a nautical inspired tweed wrap skirt V9209 with a Breton stripe knit top! I feel so elegant and chic! Nautical looks are on trend this season which makes this perfect for my work wardrobe.  I’ve been dying to try out this Vogue pattern midi wrap skirt with its button detail for a few months now.  I love the highwaist, button closure plus faux button and the interesting angle of the wrap. So versatile- I can dress it up with heels or wear it with my converse to work. Organic Cottons Plus contacted me in December to […]

Work Wardrobe: Lantern Sleeve Blouse and Denim Culottes

I think this look is one of my favorites!  I love the simplicity of this white lantern sleeve blouse with the dark denim culottes. Both pieces are such versatile basics.  Perfect for work and for the weekend. I wish I had started sewing pieces like these earlier! The denim culottes are my second version of my pattern hack/mashup of B5504 by Connie Crawford and By Hand London’s Holly Pant.  I did everything construction wise identical to my Rust Culottes so for more sewing details check out that post!  These were made in a stretch Classico Indigo Denim(OOS) I found at Marcy Tilton. I cut the fabric […]
