Hope you’re all relaxing and enjoying this Labor Day Weekend with friends and family! Just a quick post today so I can get back to hanging with the kids!
I made these mommy and me Jalie yoga pants for Ami and myself a few weeks ago and they’re been getting a ton of wear. Super comfy and nice and lightweight. It is HOT here when we walk Nigel to school in the mornings (and afternoons!) so I really needed some more light walking gear. These were sewn up really quickly so the construction is pretty basic. They were mostly sewn on the serger plus I skipped the elastic inserted in the waistband for both pairs. These are closer to loungewear.
As soon as Ami saw me making these up she wanted a matching pair so I whipped up a pair for her too. I used Jalie 3022 to make both of these. I used my modified capri length in a size V/9 and added a little skirt for modesty- this fabric was very light and a bit too sheer otherwise. Ami’s were made with her old traced pattern in the size G/4T that I added a 1/4″ or so on all my seams as I cut, plus a bit more length to make these about a size bigger without having to take the time to retrace my pattern. Ami just had another growth spurt so I added about 2 inches in length!
I think what love most about Jalie patterns is the broad size range. How awesome that I can make clothes for both my little girl and myself using the same pattern! The fabric I used is a lovely semi sheer modal jersey in dark mauve and heather grey from Koshtex on Etsy. It worked perfectly with my color palette for my fitness looks for Look 7 as part of my Fall Wardrobe plans.

I’ll be making up another pair or two for fall in a sturdier 4 way stretch knit or ponte in the full length. I already made another wide leg capri pant out of the same material which is super comfy and perfect for exercise but not as pretty. Just a nice basic lounge pant. Ami picked out some nice tee shirt material for some cute matching swing tanks I’ll be making to wear with these pants too!
We spent Sunday morning enjoying the beach until Ami was worn out and needed to head home for naps! We played in the sand, had a picnic breakfast, tried out some yoga moves and flew our new kite! Good times!
Hope you’re enjoying the end of summer as much as we are!
