Refashioned PJ’s for Ami: McCall’s M5965
Today’s post is going to be short and sweet. Mostly sweet….and that’s thanks to all the cute pics of Ami in her Refashioned PJ’s using McCall’s M5965! Ami is all about comfy clothes in bright pinks and purples so I’ve been keeping my eye out while at the local thrift shops for pieces I can remake for her. My last trip turned up some great finds. Lots of summer maxi’s in bright prints! Amelie just had a big growth spurt (she’s 5 1/2) and is slowly outgrowing all the hand-me-downs from her cousin.
I used McCall’s M5965 (4-6 Children’s) for all these looks. I knew I better get cracking since she’s already in the largest size in this pattern. What I didn’t realize is that this pattern is for moderate stretch knits so she has tons of room to grow in these. I do like clothes that last for a while!
I cut these in the size 6. View A, the nightgown dress minus the ruffle- per Ami’s request. View E, Pants and two tops in View C. These were really quick to make though I added a bunch of topstitching using my coverstitch machine-boy do I love that machine! As far as fabric the grey and white, multi starburst and pink paisley were all thrift store maxi’s I shared in my last wardrobe post (lots of yardage) as well as some leftover black organic knit and a purple knit dress my sis gave me. I got these all done in two days. One cutting and prepping and the next sewing. I saved time by setting up all my machines at once and working on them all in order of construction.
Ami loves these all! I’m so thrilled because she really hasn’t been wearing many of the things I make her lately. She has her own definite sense of style! But these are all so soft and comfy that they’ve been worn every day after school since I made them!
In other news I just got a job! I’m so excited to be back working after 8 years as a stay at home mom! I’ll be working part time- just while the kids are at school- as a visual stock associate. I’m really excited to dip my toes back in the water + that I found something that works around my schedule. I was a visual merchandising manager before the kids were born so I can’t wait to get back to it. I start later this week helping setup for the store opening! I think my sewing plans for fall are going to be doing a 360° as I really am going to need work clothes. More on that soon!
