I can’t believe I haven’t shared this refashion yet! I made this tank well over a year ago and then forgot about it completely. I don’t think I even wore it until now.

Hard to believe this was once a double layer silk tank and a pair of capri pants. Both were on clearance at Club Monaco (where I used to work). I scooped up the way too large tank because the material was lovely and the pants to wear at work, but unfortunately they got damaged. The pant fabric looked almost leather like and I immediately envisioned making a heavy yoke top with a drapey underbody.

I used my tried and true pattern, Vogue V1382 as my base with a bit of alterations. You can see my dress version here and my other top versions here and here.

Original Pieces- Club Monaco Silk Tank and Slim Fit Capri Pant both in Blush

Construction-

• I took apart both the pants and the tank top before starting.
• I left a finished topstitched seam showing (from the pants) to cut out my front yoke panel 2x from both the outer and inner layers.
• I cut two angled straps for the back that inserted into the open shoulder seams.
• For the bottom blouse I eyeballed the shape and used French seams on the sides. The armhole areas are just turned under small hems and a baby hem on the bottom edges.
• The main body was serged to the yoke sections front and back.
• The under blouse silk layer has two side seams and then the over layer in a more sandwashed texture is left open in the back with the original hems.

I just adore this tank! It’s simple but modern and I adore the color. Worn here with my white Holly pants and these awesome green earrings I picked up in the gift shop at NSU Museum of Art. They have gorgeous jewelry.
