How to Get Started with Fashion Embroidery

In this tutorial I’m sharing everything you need to know to get started with fashion embroidery. We’ll go over supplies and notions, how to transfer your designs onto fabric, as well as setting up your embroidery hoop. I share demo’s on how to trim your floss skeins into two different lengths, hooping, wrapping your embroidery hoop with twill tape, as well as starting and stopping with waste knots and the long tail method and weaving in your ends and trimming. Join me as we go over the basics of embroidery!

1940’s Haslam Skirt in Cream Upcycled Denim with Embroidered Thorn Pockets

I love a simple A-line skirt and this one made up in an upcyled cream denim is going to be a great addition to my me-made wardrobe. It’s a perfect showcase for my new embroidery pocket pattern design, stitched in a simple Thorn stitch. I love these floss colors against the cream and found perfect coordinating buttons to finish off the look! Plus the interior waistband is lined …

Vintage Simplicity 5688 Skirt with Embroidered Pockets and Retro Stripe Rib Turtleneck

I’m so happy to finally share this make, my vintage Simplicity 5688 Linen Skirt with embroidered curve pockets! I wore this for Thanksgiving and got so many compliments. My daughter wore a striped rib knit turtleneck too, so we were almost matching! There’s a fantastic banyan tree with a built in swing next to the lake in our community where my daughter loves to play. She was happy …

Vintage 1950’s Seahorse Embroidered Beach Jacket, McCall 1524

I bought this Vintage 1950’s Beach Jacket pattern, McCall’s 1524 on Etsy and really lucked out. I fell in love with the lines of this simple jacket pattern- not even realizing it had embroidery- and seahorses at that! The pattern contained intact (and fully functional) embroidery pattern transfers! So perfect for Florida! It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time either. I scooped up this pattern right …

Organic Denim Jeans + Embroidery

Indigo Dyed Jeans- Finally Completed!

I’ve been working on these jeans for about a month, so I’m really excited to have them finally completed, especially before the warm weather hits Florida!  I was really getting concerned that I wouldn’t have a chance to wear them this season.  Plus they’re just in time for February’s Smarty Pants Challenge over at The Monthly Stitch, and my first time contributing!  Between the indigo dyeing (which I did …
