Rouleau Edged Top

One of my goals for the year has been to up my repertoire of sewing techniques and this rouleau edged top is the result!  I saw the cover for the Threads Feb/March 2015 Issue (#177) and was hooked. The bodice and hems utilize a rouleau technique of hand stitched bias tubes as edging. The effect is airy and beautiful. And the aqua blue silk used was just stunning! Simple Tank Slip

Just a quick little post today.  I made this simple tank slip up a few weeks ago to wear with my White Holly Hawthorn Dress.  It’s already gotten so much more use then I thought it would. It’s perfect under all my light colored dresses or paired with a skirt. I’m wearing it here with my Shape Shape Wrap Apron Skirt.  I really need to make a few knit tanks and maybe …

Fall Wardrobe Sewing Plans

This summer has just flown by! My oldest starts school in just two weeks.  As my summer sewing winds down it’s time to focus on my Fall sewing plans.   Our weather here is quite warm until at least January so these sewing projects are all geared toward year-round wear. Organic Cottons Plus sent me my choice of fabric for review and I went with these two organic cotton voiles I’ve had …

I’m really loving my newest makes, a pair of bias cut tube dresses.  If you followed me for Me Made May you saw me wearing these on Mother’s Day.  I made this pattern using my bodice sloper from the * Craftsy Class Patternmaking: The Bodice Sloper with Suzy Furrer .  I love this class!  If you’re interested in learning pattern drafting this class is a fabulous intro.  The pattern inspiration is from …

Patternmaking: Moulage + Sloper

I’ve been working on making up my  bodice moulage, a precise fabric blueprint of the upper body, with Suzy Furrer’s Craftsy class, Patternmaking Basics: The Bodice Sloper , on and off since the beginning of the year.  My first version looked great except for the waist which was way too big.  So I went back to check my measurements,lo and behold, I lost a whole 2.5″ off my waist and 1″ off my …
