Disneybound 2017!

As soon as I found out we were going to Disney World this Spring I was planning out what I’d make for Amelie. There’s no better excuse for new princess clothes! Our trip was this past April and, as luck would have it, coincided with Amelie’s 6th birthday. It was an amazing family reunion vacation!  Disneybound all the Way! I spent quite a bit of time planning out my makes …

Work Wardrobe: Sewing Plans

I’m so excited to finally share with you all my Work Wardrobe Sewing Plans! Going back to work after 8 years at home has been a bit of an adjustment. Especially finding clothes to wear to work. My handmade wardrobe was so eclectic/hippy/artsy momma. Nothing was really work appropriate!  I’m starting from scratch here. My visual merchandising position at Club Monaco calls for an elevated casual look. Neutral tones and simple silhouettes with feminine details.  It …

Slow Fashion October + Work Wardrobe Planning

I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled I am to be back working after 8 yrs. as a Stay at Home Mom…I forgot how much I loved it!   I’m working part time at Club Monaco as a Visual/Stock Associate. Before I had kids I was a Visual Merchandising Manager so this is a great way to ease back into the workforce.  The last two weeks have been …

Fall 2016 Sewing Plans

The weather here is slowly changing from our excessive summer heat to lots of rainy-and slightly cooler-days. Summer is slowly drawing to a close.  Time for my Fall 2016 Sewing Plans! I think what I miss most about living up north is real fall clothes. It gets cooler here in Florida but not so much that I need to layer or wear much heavier garments.  My nod to fall tends to be in my …

Summer Sewing Plans 2016

This afternoon will be our first day where we’re permanently settled in our new apartment in Plantation! The hardest part of being back and forth while Nigel finished out the school year was my limited sewing time.  I was able to do a bit of pattern testing and sewed up some new swimwear for the kids on the weekends but really couldn’t start any big projects. Plus, I haven’t …

Spring 2016 Sewing Plans

Spring is in the air and all I can think about sewing are pretty little dresses in pastels and florals made out of airy linens and lightweight silks!  I’ve sewn up my last make for winter, a trouser wide leg culotte in olive recycled poly (just need some pics) and have already put away all my heavier clothes for the season. Time to plan out my looks for Spring! Last weekend we …

Rouleau Edged Top

One of my goals for the year has been to up my repertoire of sewing techniques and this rouleau edged top is the result!  I saw the cover for the Threads Feb/March 2015 Issue (#177) and was hooked. The bodice and hems utilize a rouleau technique of hand stitched bias tubes as edging. The effect is airy and beautiful. And the aqua blue silk used was just stunning! You can see my inspiration on my Pinterest Board for …
