I’ve been trying to use up some of my prettier fabric remnants before our big move (2 weeks + counting!!!!) and found the perfect pattern to use up my yardage in Fifi by Tilly and the Buttons. It’s a simple camisole with gathered cups cut on the bias and cheeky little shorts. I don’t have many pretty underthings so these were a perfect addition to my handmade wardrobe.
I bought the pdf version for some instant sewing gratification! I made the first version below as a tester and was wondering if this silhouette just didn’t suit me. I’ve lost most of my abundant bust post breastfeeding so nothing fits quite the same as it did 7 years ago. I’m back to a 36B but was a 36DD while nursing the kiddos. Luckily I came across the post for a SBA and it saved the day. Once I adjusted the bust it looked lovely. Sorry no pics in these makes, they’re a little more bare than I’m comfortable with in pics. Which seems weird since I don’t mind taking swimwear photos.
These were all finished last month and have gotten lots of wear. They’re really comfy and oh so pretty. A lovely change of pace from my usual yoga pants and tank top! This top also looks really pretty with my Carolyn Pajamas! The set below was made with the leftover Liberty silk from my Granville Blouse with teal bias. I accidentally cut a little too wide in the center fold so I made a V at the bust to fix it. Reminder to self–draw out pattern pieces fully that are on the fold for accuracy!
I also added a bit of length and sized up on the shorts. I have kids so I need a bit more coverage. The next version was made from some leftover mystery fabric I bought maybe 8 years ago for a ring sling that I never completed.
Pattern- Fifi by Tilly and the Button
- Camisole Size 4 with SBA
- Shorts Size 5 plus added length (1″) and lowered the front at waist slightly
This last set is my husbands favorite. The silk print looks like fish scales and is really lovely to work with. I do love Navy Blue! I bought this remnant I bought at Joann’s a few months ago. A bit less then a yard it was just enough with some creative cutting. I added side panels to the shorts to make them fit the yardage.
I’m madly packing up the condo this week and probably won’t get a chance to post next week. We need to be out by March 28th and close the next day. We went apartment hunting in Ft. Lauderdale last weekend and really weren’t sure we’d be able to find anything on time. Most of the condo associations have lengthy approval times and only 2 properties fit our criteria. Luckily the second place we saw was perfect. As soon as we entered the community I knew it was the one. It’s directly across the street from an A rated school and a park/playground. Lovely 2Bd/2Ba with a lake view and patio, vaulted ceiling and tile floors in Plantation. No more long commutes for my husband. So excited to move in!
Happy Sewing!

Oh gosh, these are all so lovely! I am building up quite a collection of silks and special fabrics that I only have 1m of each and I’m trying to decide what to turn them into…perhaps a Fifi might be just what I’m after.
Thanks Suzanna! It’s really the perfect pattern for small amounts of fabric. All my fabric remnants were around a yard or so.
OMG you are moving to my area!!! And lovely Fifi’s
Awesome! I was hoping to meet more sewers on the other coast. Thanks Carlalissa!
[…] I need to take a leaf out of Rebecca’s book and do some stash-busting sewing. Her Fifis are adorable! […]
These are beautiful! I was eyeing that pattern as well :)
Thanks so much! It’s a great pattern :)
These are so pretty! I would want them all!
There’s nothing like a cami for lots of use, especially here in FL.
Gorgeous job all around!
Thanks Mom! I’ll be wearing these a ton as the weather heats up.
