I’m back today with a free pattern and tutorial for the Flora Girl’s Swimsuit! The Flora Swimsuit is a comfortable and easy to make swimsuit for your active little swimmer. I designed this suit for my 4-year-old daughter Ami (size 4/5T) but it should be easy to grade up or down to your own size preference.
The Flora has a cute cut out back that ties closed, an a-line swim skirt and boy-shorts underneath. This pattern is so easy to customize. You can add ruffles, sleeves, lengthen or shorten the skirt or leave it off altogether. I made this suit to be easily worn with a rashguard underneath. Essential if you live in a sunny locale like we do in SW Florida!
I wanted this to be a quick enjoyable sew so most of my construction was done on the serger. You can also sew this up on a regular machine with a zigzag, lightning(my personal fav) or other stretch stitch. My first version in the bumblebee print features a hemmed finish while the paisley suit was finished on the serger with a decorative 3 stitch edge.
Both the pattern and the Instructions/Tutorial are WordPress Documents. Click the link below to download the instructions and print at full size. Please let me know if you have any problems.

The pattern is hand drawn, nothing fancy, just a nice basic pattern. My first version in the bumblebee print has a slightly lower neckline then the final pattern does so please take that into account. Feel free to download and use the pattern for your personal use. Be sure to link back to my blog if you make your own version. I’d love to do a round-up to show off your makes! The pattern is easy to assemble as it’s only 6 pages and only two of the pattern pieces need to be joined together.
Happy Summer~ Enjoy!
