Whew! KCW ended yesterday and I love how motivated it got me for sewing every day, though I don’t think I could keep that up on a regular basis with two little ones! Altogether I made 2 pairs of shorts for Nigel, shorts for Ami, a matching short/top set, a reversible wrap top and 3 knit skater dresses for Ami last week. You can see all my makes on the Kids Clothes Week Project page under Sew Pomona!

Here are all my end of week makes that I didn’t post:
Day 4 Scrappy Star Wars Shorts-
I made these using Dana at MADE’s basic pant pattern that I graded up to a size 5 and cut as shorts. These were made from the remnants of the pants I made for my brother at Christmas. It was basically just long strips of fabric that I serged together in patches to get enough fabric for each pattern piece. Love this quick easy project!
Day 5 Skater Dress Wearable Muslin-
I tried to draft my own dress for Ami but gave up quickly and decided to buy the girls skater dress pattern from Kitschy Coo! I also bought the Lady Skater for myself so I’ll be making that up soon too! I made this first test version out of an old tee of mine and the skirt from a maxi I don’t wear anymore. I left the original sleeves intact and fit them to the bodice since I love the gathering detail. I LOVE this pattern! So easy to follow the instructions with great pics and turned out beautifully! I made all my skater dresses in a size 3T/4T for Ami and the fit is excellent.

Day 6 Mini Me Skater Dress-
This is my favorite make of KCW- my Mini Me version of my own knit dress (my dress is here!) in a blue and purple stripe knit I got at Joann’s. Ami’s version was made with the last of the remnants I could find at the store and the scraps from my dress. I was originally planning on making it up in the coordinating pink and orange fabric (I’ll be making one soon) but Ami wanted one just like mine. She actually wanted to cut up my dress to make hers! I made the short sleeve version of the Skater dress and had to make the back in two pieces to utilize the fabric I had, about 3/4 yd. Adorable!

Day 7 Springtime Birds Skater Dress-
I found this super cute bird print interlock at Joann’s as well. For this version I altered the sleeves to 3/4 length and left off the sleeve bands doing a simple hem instead. I didn’t have enough yardage to match everything perfectly but it still looks pretty good! I love this print plus its so comfy and lightweight. This dress almost didn’t happen since my serger was not working- wouldn’t start and light wasn’t turning on- but it miraculously started working again Sunday morning! Just in time to get this last make in before we left to visit the grandparents. Super quick make!

KCW was a blast! Other than swim clothes I really won’t need to sew for the kids for quite some time! Next up will be swimwear for the fam. I just got in my shipment of swim material for the kids and the lining for my suit so I’ll be trying my hand at swimwear very soon! And because my serger was on the fritz I got back to working on my Claire Schaeffer jacket again this weekend-Yay! I needed a break from this slow hand sewn project, but was able to get the bodice sewn and all my covered buttonholes done! Happy Sewing!
