Monochromatic Colors | Color Harmony Series

Today I’m talking all about color! I’m sharing how to style your handmade or Ready to Wear wardrobe using Monochromatic Colors. This is the first post in a new series I’m starting on Color Harmony for Fashion.

Monochromatic colors: Colors that are related to one main color. The shades, tints, and tones of the same hue. The word “monochromatic” comes from the Greek words “mono” meaning one and “khroma” meaning color.

Monochromatic color schemes revolve around the use of variations of a single color. It’s a simple yet powerful way to create cohesive and visually appealing looks.  By playing with different shades, tones, and tints of one color, you can achieve harmony and balance in your outfits. A monochromatic color scheme involves selecting one hue and then using different tints, shades, and tones of that hue. For instance, if we choose aqua as our base color, we can explore various shades ranging from deep teal to light seafoam shade. This creates a cohesive and harmonious look while allowing for subtle variations that add interest and depth.

If you’re sewing your wardrobe my best tip is to choose your favorite color and then make pieces in different shades and textures to compliment your look. With a top, bottom and layering piece and a few accessories to match your on your way to a fab wardrobe!
