Phew!!!Done at the very last minute. It’s August 1st, the last day of the Sewcialists Oonapalooza ! These pants took me a bit longer than planned. I had them all sewn up at the beginning of July but had to fix a few fit issues first. My inspiration: Oona‘s beautiful Simplicity Voile pants. I love Oona’s energetic style and her bold choices. Her posts always put a smile on my face! Check out Debbie over at Lily Sage and Co.‘s Oona inspired pants too, both so fabulous.
I won this pattern, Summer Pants Lekala 4024, (along with 4 others of my choice) from Lekala and The Monthly Stitch for one of the Indie Pattern Month contests and wanted to give it a try. This pair is my tester-a wearable muslin/beach pant. I made these with a sheer curtain panel I got long ago on clearance for like $3 at World Market. I love the bold print! Next time around I’ll double the waist band length for the ties ( I had to add on to each tie to make it as long as it is now) and add about 2 inches or so to the length and width so they wrap a little more. Love that the pattern is made to measure. They also have an attached short designed into the pattern for coverage and can wrap either in front or back. I love the shape so I’ll be trying these in a more subtle print. I’m thinking an organic voile that I’ll dye myself.
Can’t believe how fast this summer has gone by with both kids at home all day. Just two more weeks until the start of school! My oldest is entering kindergarten so it will be just me and Ami. She’s 3 so only one more year until preschool for her. I’m looking forward to having a bit more time to myself to work on some dyeing and printing and maybe some embroidery. It’s been easy to get sewing time in this summer, but harder to find time for complicated projects and blogging/commenting and keeping up with social media. I try to not spend too much time on devices when I’m with the kids. I have to remind myself they’re only little for such a short time where they need my full attention.
Photobombed by little Ami! Sorry if the pics are a bit overexposed. It’s so hot and sunny here it’s been hard to get good pics at home lately. Happy Summer!
oh wow! i was on a tiny device earlier and mistakenly thought you’d used the same simplicity pattern i did– i have got to try some lekala patterns…
what a beautiful material, i adore the peeks of skin and the white shorty shorts! and yes, i agree on devices and summer and time and blogs… and i don’t even have little ones. perfect that she photobombed this :)!
Thanks for the inspiration Oona! :) The Lekala patterns I’ve tried so far are great since they’re based on your measurements, so you get a great fit. I love this material-such fun making these up!
Hello, always i used to check weblog posts here in the early hours in the dawn, for the reason that i love to
