Vintage Butterick 4659 Skirt and Striped Tee

This is my second outfit made using Vintage Butterick 4659. Last week I shared my awesome indigo dyed pants and this week I’m sharing the wrap skirt and tee. I just love this skirt pattern. It’s so comfortable, the pockets are nice and roomy and the wrap offers full coverage so you can move with ease.

I used this gorgeous slub texture linen blend in sea glass from Stylemaker Fabrics. It’s so pretty. It has a lovely drape and the color is so cool and fresh. Construction is almost identical to the pants. The pockets are the same as is the belt shape- though a longer length. The back belt loops through a large buttonhole on an angle in the back. The drape of this skirt makes it so lovely. I will be making more…maybe in all the colors!

AGF knits are great for projects that require stretch such as basic t-shirts, tank tops, dresses, and leggings. These knit fabrics have a four way stretch and are incredibly soft.

For the tee I had originally made it with the button tab but it wasn’t looking pretty. Too hard to get it perfect with the stretch plus the stripe. My sewing is never perfect. I care more about the final product than perfection. This tee is meant to just have the edged turned under as it’s an early knit pattern that is meant to be sewn on a regular machine. Instead I added a wide band cut in the opposite direction for contrast. If there is ever a vintage pattern worth getting this one is it! I love all the views and the fitting was so easy.

The past week has flown by in a blur. Tons of work and a busy school schedule for the kids. Luckily I finished everything up in just time to enjoy a day of rest for Labor day! We watched Mulan (which I loved!) and Vic grilled up some Cornish game hens for dinner before I got on our weekly family zoom call.

I have a little break between work so I’m taking full advantage. I’ve done a bit of pattern drafting, finished up a vintage dress for fall and cut out my last two makes of the summer to sew up later in the week once my thread order comes in. I’m really looking forward to fall sewing but it really won’t cool down here for at least two more months so no rush.

I’ve been sewing up a storm…so back soon with more makes! Happy sewing!
