This look is all about the pants! I’ve been dreaming about creating a tulip shaped draped pant that would look like a wrap but is actually seamed in place for easy wear. I drafted out the design on paper and then draped it to get the fit exactly how I was envisioning it. The fabric, in this gorgeous seaglass color, is the star of the show. It has a gorgeous texture and drape.

And it looks great with everything! Especially this necklace made by Andie- The Lady Cove on Etsy– who used to be my neighbor across the street. She doesn’t have the jewelry in her shop anymore but has the most gorgeous plants. I have a few on my patio.

I had originally planned these pants for my trip to Greece, but when I started working I knew these would be perfect for work wear. So instead of a fitted tank I went with a tried and true pattern, the Mandy Tee. I’ve had this free pattern for ages- since I first started sewing. The other versions I made in the past were in prints so I kept it simple in this lovely devon cream ponte. It has a nice light weight that is still opaque. Plus it drapes beautifully!
I cut it so the hem is on the selvedge for a pretty- and easy -finish. I did a simple binding for the neckline instead of the facing and finished the sleeve hems on my cover-stitch machine. I accidentally cut the sleeve in the wrong direction (w/out stretch) so they’re a bit tighter then they should be- but no big deal. I wear this tee to work almost every week. It looks great left loose or tucked in.

Devon Cream Lightweight Ponte- Marcy Tilton
Warm white in a weight that is not too light, not too heavy. Perfect. I’m so glad to find a source for this wonderful basic, a great quality ponte (has the ‘good’ fiber content, rayon/nylon/spandex that I see in fine RTW), AND in a lighter weight so it is a good choice for tops, T-shirts, cardi’s skirts and dresses…more a ‘top’ weight than a ‘bottom’ weight, tho you could use it for a soft, fluid pant too. Crosswise stretch with some lengthwise stretch. Very stable, no rolling at the cut edge so it will be easy to sew and wear. Ideal for wardrobing and travel. Makes the ideal little dress, t-shirt, tunic or top.
Pre-treat by wash/dry gentle. After sewing wash gentle and air dry
65% rayon, 28% nylon, 7% spandex
58″

Sandwashed Textured Tencel™ Viscose – Sky OOS

I took one back shot so you can see it has an invisible zipper up the back. It hardly shows at all IRL, and has two simple darts in the back. Plus a simple basic waistband. The front panels basically wrap around and then are topstitched down the front to hold everything securely in place. I love the shape of the hem!

Back soon with some new makes! I need to make more time to sew so I can work my way through my giant fabric stash!
